Survey Finds MacBooks the No.1 Laptops among College Students

A 13.3 MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz Survey Finds MacBooks the No.1 Laptops among College StudentsA recent Student Monitor study concluded over the weekend that Apple MacBooks are the preferred laptops of choice favored by U.S. college students, replacing rivals by Dell, Toshiba, Sony and HP.

Student Monitor, a New Jersey-based research company, focuses its research on students. In their comprehensive survey of 1,200 college students from 100 university campuses, they found that 83% with them owned laptops, 24% desktops and 15% owned both.  In that survey, among the laptop owners 27% used Macs compared to 24% for second-place Dell.  Among those who planned to buy a new computer, 87% planned to buy a laptop.  And among those students 47% intended to purchase a Mac.

Apple updated the white entry level MacBook with a 2.4GHz processor and NVIDIA GeForce 320m graphics processor.  They also claim that the new MacBook provides 80% more efficiency, largely due to the the improved graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320m graphics processor.  The study suggests the improved graphics is one reason why Apple is becoming more popular with students, especially among student studying technical related subjects.
